The Crops Competition Integrates Knowledge of the Australian Cropping Industry Into Eight Components
The competition has been designed to ensure that competitors are not only being tested on their knowledge of the cropping industry as taught in the lecture room but are also being provided with an opportunity to learn more about the industry outside of existing curriculums, thus better preparing them for job placement. This will extend to end user presentations, practical presentations on the use of commercial equipment and in-field experience. Students will learn in great depth many things which can be valuable regardless of their chosen profession in the Crops industry.
The competition will encompass the following components:
1. Seed ID
2. Seed Analysis
3. Pulse ID, Analysis & Classification
4. Grain Grading
5. End User – Importance & Understanding
6. Live Crop – Foliar Disease Analysis / Weed ID
7. Live Crop – Yield Potential & Production Practices
8. Business Analysis – Grain Marketing Strategy
These components will be tested or addressed across the 2 ½ days of competition. A comprehensive AUCC competition manual will be provided to registered students and coaches which will contain all of the key information required to prepare and participate in the competition.
